When we were young, in order to give our mother, Carol Pelicano, a break from cooking dinner two nights a week, our father, Ted Pelicano, invented Pelicano Pizza.
Every Tuesday and Saturday, he would make pizza and use the opportunity to form his eight children — gently, subtly imprinting upon them what it meant to be a Pelicano: integrity, generosity, faith, family, joy, lifting others' burdens, and maybe even an appreciation for Bossa Nova and West Coast Jazz!
He established a tradition that each of his children and countless of his 60+ grandchildren and great-grandchildren have carried into their own families. Every time we live this tradition of faith, family, and attention to others, Dad is right there with us.
